10/10/2022 Sydney Auction News |Clearance Rates Continue to Hover Around 60%

Despite the interest rate rises, the actual market activity appears to be flying under the radar. Clearance rates continue to hover around the solid 60% mark.

According to SQM Research data, asking house prices have remained relatively stable this week. Recently, CoreLogic released data for September showing that prices declined at a slower rate compared to August.  there’s little comfort for aspiring first home buyers. The ability of this cohort to compete for available properties has been compromised by higher rates and for many, spiking rental costs.

Auction volumes bounced back last week after the week prior was impacted by the Grand Final and the long weekend. There’s little to suggest there’ll be any major shifts as we approach the end of another year.

Last week’s Sydney auction clearance rate was 64%, 7% higher than the week before. There were 631 properties scheduled for sale, 249 properties were sold, and 98 properties were withdrawn. Moreover, the total clearance rate for state of New South Wale last week was 52%.

According to Realestate.com.au, it was reported 1032 private sales in New South Wales over last week. 221 properties were sold at auction, while 176 were sold prior to auction.
