Sydney’s auction market remained hot over the weekend. Many real estate auctions have dozens, even hundreds of people participating in the auction. The auction of a four-bedroom apartment in Eastwood, Sydney, attracted a large number of passers-by, and the last Chinese buyer bought the house. The property opened with an asking price of $1.6 million and it didn’t take long for the property to surpass the $1.65 million price tag. In the end, the bidder with number 999 won it for $1.89 million. Records show the house last sold for $998,999 in 2012. Besides Eastwood, a number of other Sydney auctions over the weekend fetched prices well above their guides. So, the current trend of Sydney’s housing market is self-evident – still hot.
The Sydney auction clearance rate last week was 68 per cent, the same as last week. Of the 542 properties listed for sale, 239 were sold and 67 were withdrawn. Additionally, the total clearance rate in NSW last week was 60 per cent.
There were 1332 private sales reported in NSW last week, Realestate.com.au reported. 204 properties sold at auction and 174 before auction.
